Insight Activation Examples: What the Formats Look Like

Insight activation turns one research study into several formats: an insight podcast, a 90-second clip, a Slack brief, a one-page visual and a video walkthrough.

Insight activation turns one research study into several formats your stakeholders will open. The report is the raw material. These are the five formats we cut from it.

To show how each one works, we'll use a single illustrative finding throughout: buyers shortlist suppliers before they ever talk to you. It's an example, not a result from a named study.

1. The insight podcast

What it is. One finding and one recommendation in about three minutes of audio.

Who it's for. Senior people who won't open a deck but will listen on the commute.

When to use it. When the decision sits with someone short on time, and the finding needs a little explanation to land.

In our example. A three-minute episode explaining that the shortlist is set before first contact, and what that means for where you spend.

2. The 90-second clip

What it is. The headline finding, made watchable.

Who it's for. The whole business. It gets shared before anyone opens the report.

When to use it. When a finding needs to travel. A clip is the format people forward.

In our example. A short video stating the finding, the one number behind it and the question it raises for your team.

3. The Slack brief

What it is. Three lines, posted where the work already happens.

Who it's for. Teams who need the point without the meeting.

When to use it. On the day of the debrief, so the people who weren't there hear it from you first.

In our example.

  • Finding: buyers shortlist before they talk to us.
  • What it means: we're judged on what they can find without us.
  • Next step: review what a buyer sees before first contact.

4. The one-page visual

What it is. The whole story at a glance, on a single page.

Who it's for. Teams who need a reference they can pin to the wall or drop into a deck.

When to use it. When the finding has to stay in view for weeks, while a plan is being built around it.

In our example. One page showing the buyer's route to a shortlist, with the points where you're absent marked up.

5. The video walkthrough

What it is. A recorded readout of the findings. One people turn up to, and stay for.

Who it's for. Anyone who wants the detail and couldn't make the debrief.

When to use it. When the team acting on the research needs the evidence, not only the headline.

In our example. A walkthrough of the evidence behind the finding, for the team who has to act on it.

What makes a format work

The five formats look different. They follow the same rules.

  • One finding each. A format that tries to carry the whole study becomes another report.
  • A recommendation attached. Every format says what to do, not only what was found.
  • Made for where it will be seen. Audio for the commute. Three lines for a channel. A page for a wall.
  • Faithful to the data. Shorter doesn't mean looser. Each format has to hold up against the report.

How the formats work together

The formats aren't alternatives. They work as a sequence. Here's an illustration of how one study might roll out:

  • Day of the debrief. The Slack brief goes out, so the headline reaches everyone at once.
  • Same week. The 90-second clip is shared more widely. Leadership gets the podcast.
  • Following week. The one-page visual goes to the teams building the plan. The walkthrough is there for anyone who wants the evidence.
  • After that. A workshop turns the finding into agreed actions.

The order matters less than the principle: each person meets the finding in a form that suits them, more than once.

Getting each format to the right people

A format only works if it reaches someone. We match each one to a channel your teams already use:

  • Email
  • Internal presentations
  • Client presentations
  • The intranet
  • Live workshops
  • Team toolkits

Some audiences need something else again. We make tailored formats where the standard five don't fit.

Same insight. Different doors.

What you don't have to do

After a typical debrief, the sharing lands on you: rebuild the deck for leadership, script your own video, squeeze 30 slides onto one page.

With Insight Activation, these arrive ready to use:

  • A leadership-ready deck
  • A 90-second clip and a walkthrough
  • A one-page visual
  • A Slack brief and email copy
  • A team toolkit and workshop

Which format should you start with?

Start with the person who has to make the decision. If they'll listen but not read, start with audio. If the finding needs to travel across the business, start with the clip and the Slack brief.

Same findings. Whatever format gets opened.
